Foreign Policy
Our Commitment
The United States has long been the leader of the free world, for better or for worse. Donald Trump has decided to shun our democratic allies in favor of cozying up to his dictator friend, Vladimir Putin. He wishes to create an imperialist United States that takes whatever it wants while he answers to no one. I will do everything in my power to end Trumps flagrant abuses of power and repair our image on the world stage.
Ending the Genocide in Palestine
What is happening in Palestine is an atrocity. It is genocide, plain and simple. The United States has not only been complicit in allowing Israel to commit genocide, it has actively given Israel weapons to do so. We provide billions in military aid and sales to Israel every year. This must stop and Israel needs to be held accountable for the nearly 100,000 Palestinians murdered by Israel.
Defending Ukraine from Russia
Donald Trump has all but given Putin the go ahead to invade Ukraine with impunity. Trump has cut all funding and military supplies to Ukraine and has already tried forcing Ukraine to accept Russia’s outrageous demands.
Trump has also paused all military aid previously committed under the Biden administration. Congress cannot allow the spread of authoritarianism and the death of democracies. Congress must pass more military aid so our ally can defend themselves against Russian aggression.
Restoring Foreign Aid People Need to Survive
Donald Trump and Marco Rubio shut down USAID, cutting $63 billion dollars in foreign aid to 130 nations across the world. USAID brought food, lifesaving medicine, clean water, farmer assistance, protection for women and girls, education and peace to millions of people and lowering global poverty. Foreign Aid makes up less than 1% of the federal budget. Two thirds of Americans reject these cuts and support providing foreign aid.
USAID programs have helped reduce maternal deaths by 40% and children under five mortality rates have fallen around 50-66%.The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) has saved over 25 million lives since it was implemented and has helped control HIV outbreaks across the planet. Now, 20 million people (including half a million children) are at risk of being unable to receive HIV treatment.
We need to restore USAID and the funding that tens of millions need to survive. USAID was shut down with Republican Congressional approval. If Democrats retake Congress, we can reestablish USAID and its funding. Millions of lives depend on it.
